CHALK ART

                                        Chalk Art

                                         By: Myranda , Andrea , Lauren X. , Kaitlyn

There is many kinds of street art such as graffiti, murals, sculptures, and chalk art. Chalk art to us is the most interesting. Chalk art is 2D art usually on the ground drawn to look 3D. Most street artists travel to different countries and the countries they usually go to are Africa, Italy, Poland, London, America, and Canada

Chalk art is so amazing that people travel to different places just to see it. Chalk art are simply made for impressing their feelings and for happiness. Their are many types of of street art. There are over street art artists who do street art for fun! In our opinion we think chalk art is made for joy, happiness,  and express feelings. It is in the family of graffiti.

It can also create illusions. The people who do chalk art usually travel to different countries to spread their art work. At the street art festival, if you look at a side, it would look 3D, but if you look at the other side, it would look flat!

Photoshop

by Thomas Cannon, Alan Love, and Niko Fransisco
Photoshop is software used to modify pictures and images. It started as a program, but now it is also used as a verb, meaning to change, or combine images to make them look funny, stupid, nice/pretty, and many other adjectives. For most people at adventure Photoshopping means to just modify a picture and replace, say, a face with something funny. For many students, the easiest way to "Photoshop" is to open a picture in paint, and paste another picture on top of it. There are also many freeware versions of Photoshop, including Sumo Paint, Gimp, Paint.net, and many more, however, the original Photoshop still has many features that these don't have.

Here is a couple of pictures, and what they were made in:

Glass Art

Glass Art        By: Luke van Scherrenburg and David Campbell

What is glass art? Well, according to it's name glass art is sculptures made of glass! Glass art can be paper weights, sculptures, and dishes and cups! You can see glass art at the Museum of Glass in Seattle, Washington. There is also glass art in medieval times for prophecies and such. M.O.G (Museum of Glass) Also tells about the history and how we used glass. They also sell many different glass creations! One of these creations is the Burger Slider Goblet.

Sand Art

By: Javier Cervantes

Sand Art is very creative and attractive type of art. Sand art is something that not everyone can do. Mostly because of these two reasons: 1, because you need the required tools, and 2, you need the required skills. I myself have personally witnessed how this is made and what is made. What you have to do is complete little segments. For example, if you were to make a mermaid you would first spray water onto the sand with something that is somewhat related to a hose. The reason why you would spray water on the sand is to make the sand harder and easy for it to stand. Sand art can be used to make a lot of different things, that is what I like about it.

Mosaics

Mosaics
By: David Campbell and Luke van Scherrenburg

"What is a mosaic" you might ask? A mosaic is an image made with small pieces of glass, stone, and other materials on a tile. They are used for interior decoration, decorative art, and/or cultural and spiritual significance. Mosaic's are a very famous type of art for Greeks and the Romans. Mosaic art is used a lot in Greece and Rome, they are used for cultural purposes. They have been used for over thousands of years. They are also used as decorations for the rich's houses and for the city it self. Attempting to make a mosaic can take a lot time, depending on how big you plan your mosaic to be. If your mosaic is going to be big, you will need a lot patience and a lot of workers. Or else the mosaic will take for ever to make it. But at the end, after all of your hard work, the mosaic will amuse everyone around you.

Lego art

                                                   Lego Art
                                         BY: Javier Cervantes

Lego art is a type of art that can be very difficult, and will require a lot of patience. Mostly because you will need the Lego pieces to be in the right spot because if you mess up then the sculptor will be ruined and you may have to start all over. Without patience you will want to rush through the thing you are working on and will ruin the whole thing. I personally like artists with patience because, as I like to say, “the more the merrier” meaning that the more the patience you have, the more better your work of art will be. And for that, I admire Lego art

What are Caricatures?

What is a caricature?
By: Luke van Scherrenburg and David Campbell

A caricature is pretty much a funny picture. What some people may not know is that a caricature is a drawing of a person but their features are exaggerated. Like Will Smith, His lips probably would be exaggerated.

Hand Art

                                       Hand Art
                                                 By: Javier Cervantes

Hand art is very creative type of art. Mostly because people use plain hands, and turn them into anything. I have recently seen some hand art and the colors and the way they were used are very beautiful. Mostly because of the way they attempted to make the hands into animals such as: tigers, eagles, elephants, zebras, horses, and etc. All in all, personally think that hand art is the best kind of art there is.

How To Make A Meme!

By Luke van Scherrenburg and David Campbell

Hi, last week David and I posted memes and now we're gonna make some memes and tell you how!

Here are the steps how:     1.)  Get a base picture  (this could be a cover or a back round)

2.) Add a Funny picture or a meme (trollface)

3.) Add words or a funny or stupid comment (funny recommended)

4.) Save or publish your work

Now here is 2 memes that Luke made:

Michelangelo

                              About: Michelangelo

                              By: Javier Cervantes

Michelangelo was a famous artist from Italy, people consider him ‘the greatest artist to have ever lived’. I certainly agree with who ever said that because I personally think he is talented at doing more than just painting. He is somewhat, similar to Leonardo DaVinci because of his painting skills. Most of Michelangelo’s art are high ranks, meaning that his art is really good. Some of his work is the best in the world. Many people have critiqued his work but one of them, Piero Soderini, the mayor of Michelangelo’s current location said “It’s coming along wonderfully,” said Piero Soderini. “But do you know what? The nose is too thick.”  Although Michelangelo took some bad criticism, he continued to fulfill his dream as a sculptor and artist. Mostly because he knew that a lot of people liked his work, and he didn’t want just 1 person to get in his way and for that he was very successful.

Hispanic Art

                                                                                    Hispanic Art
                                                                            By: Javier Cervantes
I love art, I love it because of the many creative things you can do with it and all of the colors you can use. But my personal favorites are Asian and Hispanic art. But if I were to choose from one of them it would be the Hispanic art, mostly because of the different kinds there are. Like one of the different kinds is optical illusion, my favorite. Optical illusion is very entertaining for me mostly because of what the artist makes out the things His/her has available to that person.  Asian art is also very creative and is very lovely. It most of then times uses very bright colors. Art is a very fun way to express yourself and, if you want you can paint in your free time.

What Time Is It?

             By: Brianna Paolini

I am writing about stem/Adventure. Stem stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. We have science class, but what is different is we make projects whit a group and takes note but at other elementary schools they just take notes. Technology, we use net books to do some projects and to research, engineering is when we make volcanos in science. Math, for math when you need help all you need to do is ask and the math teacher will help you. All the teachers at stem/Adventure are really nice they will ask if you need help and if you do they will help you (I am not lying). Most kids that come get higher CST scores. I know because I am now getting better grades than my big sister. Our school is like a middle school because we really are at a middle school. We change class every 50 minutes then we go to our next class. We have three minutes to go to our next class and if you don’t make it you will be tardy for class.

Lunch is so easy to remember. We go to lunch ten minutes early. We only go ten minutes early because if we go at the same time as the Herman kids there won’t be any room and we will get lost or hurt. That won’t happen because we have awesome yard duties that will always have you in sight so you are safe. There are always ten minute bells so you are prepared to go to your next class.

What are Memes?

What Are Internet Memes?

By: Luke van Scherrenburg and David Campbell

What is an internet meme? An internet meme is basically an ordinary picture and then it is edited and finally published on the internet. Yesterday We posted internet memes, and you can see that some might be funny and others seem just a bit stupid. Anyway, Memes usually are pictures added with words but some are just the pictures themselves. Some of these includes the: Trollface, Epic face, and the Forever alone face.

This is just a Trollface comparison, the real Trollface is on the right
this is the Forever Alone Face
This is the Epic face (it's annoying to me)

Leonardo di ser Piero DaVinci
                      By: Javier Cervantes

Leonardo Di Ser Piero DaVinci was born on April 15, 1452 in Italy, near Florence; and died in 1519 (at the age of 67). He died in Amboise, France. He was a talented Italian painter, sculptor, architect, musician, scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist, and writer. But some of his famous work he is really well known for his paintings, sculptors, and his inventions. I am doing this article based on him because he was a talented and a famous painter, and I personally like his work because of the texture and the shades he uses. I myself, want to go to Italy just to see his work. His work is also well known for his different kinds of art being shown in museums where his work may be admired by many people from all over the world.

                Smash

The show "Smash" is about a girl that’s trying to find her way onto Broadway in New York City. She auditioned for the roll of Marilyn Monroe. "Smash" is an musical drama series created by Theresa Rebeck and produced by Steven Spielberg. The show revolves around the  creation of a new Broadway musical  based on the life of  Marilyn Monroe. The  TV show follows the everyday life of a young woman named  Katharine McPhee, who is beautiful and has  musical talent but is trying to become an actress. The only feedback she seems to get is that her resume is a little on the light side, meaning she doesn't have enough experience. Karen does her best to stay positive in the face of failure.

Check This Out!!!

This is our school's promo. A promo is kind of like Mr.Heerdegen's demo reel that we showed you a few weeks ago. The only difference is that we aren't showing people different things we can do to get a good filming job, but to show people what we do as a school. This doesn't go for all promos, though. Promo is also short for promotion, so basically we are promoting our school. It tells all the good things about our school! If you are interested in coming here, this video is for you. Simply click on the link below. If you want to see more schedule a tour with our office. All you have to do is go back to our Adventure website. Thank You.

So you Want To....

Make A Stop-Motion
In order to make a stop-motion, the things you will need are:
  • ·      A camera or an app through a phone or D.S
  • ·      Objects to take pictures of
  • ·      Patience

A stop-motion is a series of pictures taken, to bring inanimate objects to life. This form of film is used mostly for claymation. Popular shows that used stop-motion include Wallace and Gromit.

Here’s how to do it yourself.
1.     Pick an object or two…or more to take the pictures of
2.     Set them up with how you want them at first
3.     Take the picture.
4.     Move them between half of an inch to an inch
5.     Take another picture
The key to this is to take a picture every time you move the object you want to make the stop motion of. When you’re done, or if you just want to see how it’s going, then just play it. Some people make short ones that take a day. We have seen videos of people who it took them days to months. We aren't sure how long it took these guys, but it's still pretty good.

So You Want to Find Out About The...

 Film Industry

This week, we found out that Mr. Heerdegen, Mrs. Dorsey's team teacher, had majored in the Film Industry. So, we decided to talk to him about how you can get into the Film Industry. Here’s what he told us.
For the first two years in college, he didn’t get to use a camera. Considering it was a film class, it was a really surprising fact. The only way you could use a camera was to prove that you knew how to use the camera, and the history of film. For the second two years at college, you get to use a camera and work with groups to make short films and small movies.
After he finished college, he decided not to go into the film industry because of a few things.
1.       You have to put yourself out there and hope you get a job.
2.       You have to work for 18 hours a day.
3.       Most people who even get to touch a camera and film a movie, are over 30 years old.
4.       You really have to work yourself up the ladder to fame.
5.       You’re not your own boss, you have a boss.
6.       A lot of movies are made, and not very many make the cut and are released.

He also told us that being in film really is a good thing. It helps you to express yourself, and find yourself. Even accept who you are and where you come from.

Mr. Heerdegen said that his favorite type of film is Experimental Film. What’s fun about it is that it doesn’t follow Hollywood Standards, and is looked at as more of a piece of art, because it really doesn’t have a plot. One of his favorite experimental films was when he played 6 different films at the same time, on different projectors set up around the room. He even had his friend who was a dj play at the same time as the films. He said he thought that this experimental film was one of his favorites because it required the audience to participate and notice one screen and then the other.

He made this film by placing Found Footage from about 100 years ago. He also shared with us that film manipulation is often sped up, or slowed down.  This made us think that maybe his film may have been manipulated.  So, here is his demo reel that he has happily shared with us. Just click on the link, and it will take you directly to his demo. Enjoy!

Mr. Kubo… Great P.E. Teacher
Here at AdVENTURE, we have a really great P.E. Right now the sport we are learning is Track and Field. We wanted to know more about our amazing P.E. teacher, Mr. Kubo, and decided to interview him. We only asked him a few questions, but from those questions, we were able to understand just how much he loves his job and sports.
Q: Why did you become a PE teacher?
A: “I’ve loved sports since I was born!”

Q: What did you want to be when you were a kid?
A: “When I was a kid, I wanted to be a professional baseball player.”

Q: Did you ever dream of being a PE teacher when you were younger?
A: “Yes, I started considering it in middle school because it was my favorite subject.”

We all learned that Mr. Kubo really loves his job. He is a great teacher.

Our Teacher, Mr. Kubo!
